ACMaps Design and Prototype Project
Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, Sudbury, Ontario (1994-1995)

This project was undertaken to convert the existing manual based business processes of Mining Claim maintenance at Mining Recorder's Office to an automated system based on GIS technology. An intensive project started with the review of Mining Recorder's Office business processes and rules. Based on the business review we designed all aspects of the prototype. Using GIS and relational database technology the prototype was successfully completed and installed at the user site. Based on the review of the prototype the complete design and functional specifications for the production application were then written.

Specific tasks included the provision of consulting services to perform a User needs analysis and Business process analysis and GIS application definition. Prototype design and coding utilizing the UNIX based Genasys II Inc. GenaMap and Genius GIS software and Oracle RDB, PL/SQL, SQL*PLUS and SQL*FORMS software. Technical documentation writing for the design and functional specifications for the prototype and for the production application was also performed.
